Our Shandong customer Mr. Zhang's car model is Wuling Rongguang, and there is no armrest on the main driver's seat, which is very inconvenient. The customer said that because he drives for a long time, he needs a place to put his right hand when driving long distances, and it is inconvenient without an armrest. For comfort, he chose to install armrests at his own expense later.
Take the 2012 1.2L extended standard model as an example. There are two options for self-modification:
The first option: add an armrest box between the main and co-driver seats, with suitable modification parts. However it will be very troublesome to pull the handbrake after installation, and there will be certain interference during use, which is not very convenient.
The second option: add two armrests to the main driver's seat alone (or only one armrest, left and right), the armrest can be rotated and adjusted in angle. Although the operation is a little troublesome, it does not affect the use of the handbrake.
After weighing, Mr. Zhang chose the second option. According to his actual situation, we recommended a car seat armrest suitable for him. With our assistance, Mr. Zhang installed the armrest himself after receiving it. The installation is also very simple, all mechanical operations, and people with strong hands-on ability can modify it by themselves.
Tools will be used, electric drill, wrench, and wallpaper knife, the operation steps are as follows:
1: Remove the seat cover of the original car. Open the fixed position under the main driver's seat cover, and then pull up the seat cover from the bottom to the top, so that the support frame of the seat can be exposed.
2: Install the armrest fixing device. The fixing device is tightened with screws. Find a suitable height position on the right side of the seat bracket, use U-bolts on it, and tighten it with screws on both sides. You need to punch holes in the frame on the right side of the main driver, and then fix it with screws.
3: Restore the sponge to install the seat cover. After installing the armrest support frame, you need to make holes in the appropriate positions on the seat sponge and seat cover, and then restore the seat sponge and seat cover to their original positions.
4: Install the armrest assembly. Insert the fixed position of the armrest shaft into the support rod, and then screw on the fixing screws from the back, so that the modification is completed.
It is very practical and convenient to DIY and add a set of main driver's armrests. Especially when traveling long distances, you can put your right hand on it to rest.
